Crime Trackers Massachusetts Statement on Rutland Arrest Involving Stolen Vehicle, Drugs, and Outstanding Warrant

Crime Trackers Massachusetts is aware of the arrest that occurred in Rutland following a report from a resident who observed suspicious activity involving a vehicle. We commend the resident for reporting the activity quickly and the responding officers for their swift and professional response.

Officers responded to the area of East County Road and Wachusett Street after a resident reported a man attempting to break into a vehicle. Officers located 38-year-old Alex Jusino of Worcester shortly after arriving in the area.

During their investigation, officers determined that Jusino had arrived in the area in a stolen motor vehicle, was operating that vehicle with a suspended license, and was in possession of suspected fentanyl and crack cocaine. Officers also learned that Jusino had an outstanding warrant from Lowell District Court for an alleged assault and battery on a correctional facility employee.

Jusino was placed under arrest and charged with multiple offenses including felony breaking and entering into a vehicle in the daytime with intent to commit a felony, receiving stolen property valued over $1,200, receiving a stolen motor vehicle, disguise to obstruct justice, possession of a Class B substance subsequent offense, possession of a Class A substance, and operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license.

Crime Trackers Massachusetts recognizes the seriousness of these allegations, particularly those involving stolen vehicles, drug possession, and crimes against correctional staff. These types of offenses not only impact victims directly but also affect the safety and well-being of communities across the Commonwealth.

Court records show that Jusino was arraigned on March 12, 2026, in East Brookfield District Court before the Honorable Judge Maura K. McCarthy. A plea of not guilty was entered on all charges. The court set bail at $10,000 surety or $1,000 cash. After bail was not posted, the defendant was ordered held at the Worcester County House of Correction pending a pretrial hearing scheduled for April 8, 2026.

In addition, because of an outstanding warrant issued out of Lowell District Court related to a September 24, 2025 charge of assault and battery on a correctional facility employee, Judge McCarthy ordered that Jusino be transported to Lowell District Court on Friday to address that matter.

Crime Trackers Massachusetts also acknowledges the coordination between the Rutland Police Department and the Worcester Police Department that resulted in the stolen vehicle being recovered and returned to its rightful owner. Interagency cooperation is a critical component of effective policing and helps ensure that victims receive timely resolution whenever possible.

We also want to emphasize the important role that community members play in public safety. In this case, a vigilant resident recognized suspicious behavior and contacted authorities. That quick action allowed officers to respond rapidly and potentially prevented additional crimes.

Crime Trackers Massachusetts continues to encourage residents across the Commonwealth to remain aware of their surroundings and to report suspicious activity to local law enforcement. Community engagement and partnership with law enforcement agencies remain vital in preventing crime and protecting neighborhoods.

As with all cases, the charges are allegations, and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Crime Trackers Massachusetts will continue to follow this case and provide updates as new information becomes available through the courts.
