Three Arrested After Armed Carjacking Investigation in Springfield

Crime Trackers Massachusetts is closely following the investigation into an armed carjacking that occurred Thursday afternoon in Springfield and resulted in the arrest of three individuals.

Officers with the Springfield Police Department responded to the area of Central Street and Maple Street shortly after 1:20 p.m. following reports that an adult male had his vehicle stolen at knifepoint. Authorities say the suspect threatened the victim with a knife before taking the vehicle, while a second suspect, identified as a female, entered the car before it was driven away. The victim was later transported to Baystate Medical Center for evaluation of possible injuries.

The investigation quickly involved members of the department’s Real-Time Analysis Center (R-TAC), whose work helped locate the stolen vehicle less than two hours later. At approximately 2:45 p.m., analysts alerted officers that the vehicle had been spotted in a parking lot along the 1300 block of Boston Road. Officers and detectives responded to the area and located the stolen vehicle unoccupied.

Through investigative work and the review of surveillance video, officers observed a female suspect leaving the stolen vehicle and entering a nearby hotel room. Detectives and officers made contact at the room and detained four individuals inside. Three of those individuals were ultimately placed under arrest.

Geneva Malloy, 55, of Springfield, was arrested and charged with possession of a stolen motor vehicle. Detectives also reported recovering crack cocaine during the arrest.

Emilio Rivera, 39, of Holyoke, and Desiree Trumble, 34, of Springfield, were also arrested after initially providing officers with false names. Both individuals were found to have active arrest warrants and were taken into custody. Officers also recovered a knife from Rivera during the investigation.

Rivera faces charges connected to an outstanding warrant issued by Northern Berkshire District Court for carjacking and operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license, in addition to a charge of furnishing a false name to law enforcement.

Trumble faces several charges tied to multiple outstanding warrants from courts in Northern Berkshire, Springfield, and Chicopee, including carjacking, larceny of a motor vehicle, possession of Class A, B, and C drugs, receiving a stolen motor vehicle, and unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. She is also charged with furnishing a false name to officers.

Malloy is charged with possession of a stolen motor vehicle and possession of a Class B drug.

The investigation remains active and ongoing. At this time, no individuals have been formally charged in connection with the armed carjacking that initially occurred Thursday afternoon.
