Marlborough Police Promote Two Lieutenants and Two Sergeants

Crime Trackers Massachusetts congratulates the four officers of the Marlborough Police Department who were recently promoted to new leadership roles within the agency.

Lieutenant Ronald Ney and Lieutenant Scott Deciero have been promoted to the rank of Lieutenant, while Kyle Skagerlind and David Tinglof have been promoted to the rank of Sergeant. These promotions reflect years of dedication, leadership, and commitment to serving the residents of Marlborough and supporting fellow officers within the department.

Lieutenant Ronald Ney’s promotion marks an extraordinary milestone in a career that has spanned nearly four decades. With 37 years of service to the Marlborough Police Department, Lieutenant Ney has built a legacy of dedication and professionalism. For the past 19 years, he has served as a Sergeant, supervising officers across several critical areas including patrol, investigations, and traffic and community policing operations. His experience and institutional knowledge will continue to be a valuable asset as he steps into this new leadership role.

Lieutenant Scott Deciero also brings a wealth of experience to his new position. With more than 28 years of service in law enforcement, he has developed a strong reputation through his work in investigative assignments. Over the past four years, he led the department’s Investigations Unit as Sergeant, overseeing complex cases and helping guide investigative strategies that supported public safety in the community. His promotion reflects his strong leadership and commitment to effective policing.

Sergeant Kyle Skagerlind’s promotion recognizes his dedication to patrol operations and officer development. During his more than seven years with the department, he has worked across all three patrol shifts and has played a key role as a Field Training Officer. In that role, he has helped mentor and prepare new officers entering the profession, ensuring they are equipped with the knowledge, professionalism, and skills necessary to serve the community.

Sergeant David Tinglof also brings significant experience to his new role. In addition to his seven years with the Marlborough Police Department, he has more than two decades of previous law enforcement experience from another agency. His work as a Field Training Officer and as a Massachusetts Police Training Committee Defensive Tactics Instructor has helped train officers across the Commonwealth, demonstrating his commitment to officer safety, training, and professional development.

Promotions within a police department reflect not only professional achievement but also a continued commitment to leadership, mentorship, and public service. Officers who rise through the ranks play a critical role in guiding the next generation of law enforcement professionals while maintaining strong relationships with the communities they serve.

Crime Trackers Massachusetts congratulates Lieutenant Ney, Lieutenant Deciero, Sergeant Skagerlind, and Sergeant Tinglof on their well-earned promotions. We wish them continued success as they take on these new responsibilities and continue serving the City of Marlborough with dedication and professionalism.
