On Saturday, January 3rd at approximately 6:30 p.m., members of the Springfield Police Firearms Investigation Unit, under the direction of Sergeant Evan Donermeyer, along with members of the Springfield Police Emergency Services Unit under the direction of Sergeant Patrick Denault, members of the Springfield Police Neighborhood Stabilization Bureau under the direction of Sergeant Daniel Johnson, and officers assigned to Squad C, arrested seven suspects, seized a trafficking weight of crack-cocaine, and recovered five illegal firearms.
Firearms Investigation Unit detectives had been conducting a firearms investigation involving 18-year-old Jadis Arnold-Roberts, with a residence on Adams Street identified as a targeted location. Detectives applied for and were granted a search warrant for a home located on the 0–100 block of Adams Street.
At approximately 6:15 p.m., as officers prepared to execute the search warrant, four individuals exited the home and were detained. This group included 31-year-old Angel Sanchez, an adult female, a 13-year-old girl, and a 12-year-old girl. The females were later released.
The search warrant was then executed. Inside the residence, officers detained two 14-year-old juvenile males and a 13-year-old juvenile male. A 15-year-old juvenile male attempted to flee but was detained on the premises. Arnold-Roberts ran out of the home and was taken into custody after attempting to jump a fence. Twenty-three-year-old Sergio Torres also attempted to flee and was located hiding underneath a vehicle on Adams Street.
During the search of the residence, detectives recovered five illegal firearms, five additional firearm magazines, approximately 40 rounds of assorted loose ammunition, a firearm silencer, a bulletproof vest, $1,847 in cash, and approximately 209 grams of crack-cocaine. Three of the firearms recovered were large-capacity firearms, capable of holding more than ten rounds of ammunition. One of the magazines recovered was also a large-capacity magazine.
Detectives arrested Arnold-Roberts, Sanchez, Torres, and four juvenile males. Arnold-Roberts was outfitted with a court-issued electronic monitoring ankle bracelet at the time of his arrest. Sanchez was noted to have a prior firearms conviction from 2024. Due to their ages, the names and charges of the juveniles will not be released.
