Suspect Arrested Following Facebook Marketplace Investigation in South Boston

At approximately 5:55 p.m. on Thursday, January 1, 2026, officers assigned to District C-6 (South Boston) were notified by a victim that his previously stolen skis had been listed for sale on Facebook Marketplace. The victim had previously filed a theft report and provided officers with updated information regarding the online listing.

A plan was arranged to meet with the suspect in the area of Massachusetts Avenue and Washington Street. During the investigation, officers determined that the suspect had an active warrant issued by Roxbury District Court for possession of a Class B substance.

Officers were subsequently redirected to the lobby of 155 Northampton Street, where they observed the stolen skis propped against a fence. After confirming that the asking price matched the Facebook Marketplace listing, officers identified themselves as Boston Police and placed the suspect under arrest.

The stolen skis were returned to the rightful owner. The suspect, identified as Tyrone Snead, 43, of Dorchester, is expected to be arraigned in South Boston District Court on a charge of receiving stolen property over $1,200.

“This case highlights the attention to detail and coordination demonstrated by the officers assigned to District C-6,” said Tiffany Williams, Director of Crime Trackers Massachusetts. “By following up on information provided by the victim and conducting a focused investigation, officers were able to recover stolen property and take the suspect into custody without incident.”
